Angus MP Kirstene Hair threw her support behind the Arbroath Christmas Lights Appeal effort at the weekend.
Ms Hair took part in a bagpack to raise money for this year's lights, following the withdrawal of Angus Council funding for local displays.
The fundraiser took place as the organising committee were informed they had been successful in gaining £7,750 in Awards for All money from the Big Lottery Fund.
The Conservative MP said: "I was delighted to help the committee raise money for this year.
"It's great to hear the 2017 display has been secured but Any additional money raised will go towards next year, as Angus communities will continue to fund their own displays.
"The festive period is an ideal time for communities to become closer."
Ms Hair has also invited all P5 and P5 composite classes in Angus’ primary schools to design her 2017 Christmas card, thousands of which will be sent nationally.
Four runners-up designs will appear on the back.
The closing date is Monday November 6. Entries should be on a sheet of unfolded A4, with the child’s name, age and their school in block capitals.
All entries should be posted to Christmas Card Competition, Office of Kirstene Hair MP, House of Commons.
